International Yarn Bombing Day 2012
Yesterday I got my bomb on and decorated some objects in our neighbourhood in honour of international yarn bombing day. It has become a tradition to cozy up the telegraph pole outside our shop and last year we celebrated the day with the local ABC radio team. This year I also wrapped up a bicycle to brighten up our shopfront.
Given that the winter here has felt so very Wintery so far it's been nice to see more of the locals getting in on the action too, it makes me warmer just looking at our efforts.
Here's hoping you had a really super weekend!
X Steph

What I wore: Faux fur and boots
I love wearing bright colours and the change of season has allowed me to embrace bright stockings, cute boots and cozy coats. I've also been having fun documenting my outfits into little photo-collages, as well as mixing my thrifted and vintage pieces into my every-day wear
This 60's faux fur is becoming a staple in my cool weather wardrobe, it's so snuggly warm and much more old-hollywood glam than a bulky knit. I'm not really a trousers kind of gal but this jacket makes wearing jeans fun!
I found the BEST pair of lace-up boots for a very thrifty $30 a few weeks ago and I can already tell they will be a winter staple as they are fantastic with both ankle jeans and tights. I have also been practicing wearing heels... an art I have never really mastered. My mustard platforms might be going a step too far but my thrifted nude Melissas are super comfy!
Love Steph

Yarn Bombing Ballarat
June 11th saw the first ever International Yarn Bombing Day and Red Brick celebrated with style! Accompanied by our fave journo Margie from ABC Ballarat our crew cozied up the city! Hitting targets in the city center and Lake precinct we had a ball getting chilly Ballarat ready for winter.
The event clearly cought the local medias eye (either that or it was slooow news weekend!) as both the ABC interviewed me for the breakfast show with Dominic Brine and the local paper The Courier published a story on the event too.
I think I'm hooked (pardon the pun) and have been knitting and crocheting like a crazy gal with a mind to rug-up a whole tree!
There is a team currently working on creating a docco on the yarn bombing phenomenon, check out their promo below.
